Every now and then, between interpellations, white papers, green papers, motions, members’ questions and parliamentary speeches, emotions boil over and honourable members are drawn into physical battle. Citizens from around the world have watched in dismay as their public representatives get drawn into fisticuffs, some more serious than others. Although the drama at our State of the Nation address involved security services and not altercations between opposing members of parliament, the scenes were as worrisome as witnessed by voters in many other countries. The Journalist brings you some pictures from around the world that show the world’s political elites in scenes they themselves would certainly want to forget.
