Knight International Fellow Raymond Joseph is working with Code for South Africa to strengthen the storytelling and audience engagement of news through data journalism and civic innovation in South Africa as part of the International Center For Journalist’s Code for Africa data journalism initiative.

He is also a journalism trainer and media consultant and has worked for mainstream, community and tabloids in senior editorial positions.

He consults on start-ups and the editorial side of newspapers, including restructuring of news desks, newsrooms and content.

He has made the transition to multimedia and data journalism and is also involved in GroundSource, a news and engagement start-up that uses SMS to reach and engage with communities without access to smartphone or Internet. Follow him on Twitter @rayjoe
