Masixole Feni was born in Cape Town. He grew up in an orphanage home, Sakhumzi, where he was introduced to photography. He didn’t finish matric, but since dropping out of high school, he has fallen in love with the photography. He was trained informally by a photography society called the Icon Image School of photography. Since then he has freelanced for the Cape Times, Cape Argus, Big Issue, AP, AFP and others. Currently he is GroundUp‘s staff photographer.
