Lumumba is from Soweto. He is a second year PhD candidate and his major research interest is contemporary South African literature. His PhD project aims to explore literary portrayals of the South African campus with the intention of plotting the trajectory towards the revolutionary atmosphere, which currently pervades most South African universities. His supervisor is Dr Deborah Seddon and he is the recipient of an Andrew Melllon Foundation bursary for 2016. He was recently awarded his MA with distinction.
