Barbara Maregele is 23-years-old and lives in Cape Town in the Western Cape. She graduated from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (Cput) with a Diploma in Journalism in April 2013. She completed her Bachelor in Technology (Btech) in journalism at Cput in April 2014.
Barbara has worked as an intern and freelance reporter for three years at the Cape Times newspaper. As one of the youngest reporters at the time, her articles frequently appeared on the front pages of not only the Cape Times, but also its sister papers The Star in Johannesburg and The Mercury in Durban.
During her brief time as a working reporter, Barbara has covered a broad range of stories, from court and crime to politics and environmental issues. Her passion for community work and social justice matters led Barbara to her current job at GroundUp where she has been working since May 2014. GroundUp is an online news site that focuses on covering social justice and community based issues.
